the seasons unravel parts of me as subtle as the change in the air.
it cracks my skin and frizzles my hair.
humbling me to my humanity and settling me beside the leaves that fall.
if i picked apart every piece of me
and let you choose your favorite part, would you leave the rest behind?
but to be intricately my own is something i’ve learned i can’t give up so easily,
every part of me is mine.
